Working very hard

Dear Seekers and Friends!

Today I bring you a small Zen story which needs deep contemplation in order to be understood and applied. Let’s talk more after reading the story.

A martial arts student went to his teacher and said earnestly, “I am devoted to studying your martial arts system. How long will it take me to master it.”

The teacher’s reply was casual, “Ten years.”

Impatiently, the student answered, “But I want to master it faster than that. I will work very hard. I will practice every day, ten or more hours a day if I have to. How long will it take then?”

The teacher thought for a moment, “20 years.”

What is the meaning of this story?

Contemplate for a while…

Let us try to understand it. Life has two category of things. There are things in Life that will come to us if we are dedicated and focused and spend enough hours of relentless efforts to achieve. Then there are other category of things that require just the reverse. Patience, Complete Relaxation, Unshakeable Faith , Love and Complete Surrender to the Master. The story tells us that we need to patient with these kind of things.

If you want to learn Mediation or you want to know the real purpose of Life or Who you are??, You cannot force and bring it to you. You need to be patient. You need to be relaxed and most importantly you need to have complete faith, devotion and surrender to the Master. And then, one fine day. It occurs! You UNDERSTAND it.

Mind achieves the world and In order to achieve itself, it has to look within.

Wish you a very Happy, fulfilling and meaningful Life!
